Projects/program services are the foundation of BWUFA. Through many thousand volunteer hours and in-kind contributions, BWUFA is able to provide support to our community in many ways.
Annual Projects:
Chantilly Mews: A project that provides family case management, employment counseling, family crisis intervention, and educational enrichment.
Slave Memorial Project: An annual project designed to strengthen and educate to a better understanding of the cultures.
Women's History Project: A program established to heighten the awareness of local women's achievements and to enhance the presence of women least recognized for their efforts to strengthen the community.
International Outreach: A program of coordinated volunteers to assist Christian Relief Services, and international relief organization, with preparing emergency supplies to several African nation to include Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Mozambique, and Angola.
Nikki Giovanni Writer's Guild: An outreach project from the Slave Memorial Project. Youth 13 - 18 years participate as ushers and readers during the Slave memorial Wreath-laying activities.
Martin Luther King Project:
Voter Education Project: A project to provide awareness to young people who are preparing to vote as well as registered voters. This project is designed to provide education in today's political issues.
Open House: Designed to welcome members and volunteers to BWUFA. This provides an opportunity to assess current projects, potential opportunities, and goal setting sessions.
Holiday Children's Party: Created and hosted by BWUFA, these parties are designed to bring communities together to host children's events, educational entertainment, and promote community awareness. And have a GREAT TIME!
